Taipei, Dec. 11 (CNA) New Taipei's one-month Christmas celebration this year will climax with star-studded concerts and a procession featuring circus performers and Hawaiian dance performers Dec. 22-23, the city government said Tuesday.
The lineup for the two-day concert will include popular girl group S.H.E. and singers Rainie Yang, Cyndi Wang and Wilber Pan, as well as Aaron Yan from the boyband Fahrenheit.
Singer-songwriters Crowd Lu and Lala Xu, who rose to fame after winning the popular singing competition One Million Star in 2008, will also perform, the city government said.
On Dec. 23, a procession will set off from Zhongshan Road to Citizen Square, where Taiwan's tallest Christmas tree is located.
A total of 30 groups will participate in the procession, each with their own distinct characteristics, including a group of young people performing fire eating, sword swallowing and other circus stunts.
The Hawaiian dance group Mele Hula, a group of samba dancers aged 70 years and older, as well as music-playing kindergarten children, will also participate, the city government said.
The concerts and procession are part of a one-month Christmas celebration held by the city, which kicked off with an LED light show on the Christmas tree and has also included orchestral performances and children's shows.
