Eric Lu wins Chopin Piano Competition top prize

American pianist Eric Lu, 27, has claimed the first prize at the prestigious International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, with the final results announced in the early hours of Tuesday. A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, Lu acknowledged the significance of the event—often dubbed the "Olympics of the piano world"—by saying, "I’m so grateful for this honor." Lu’s family heritage reflects deep roots in Asia, with his father hailing from Kaohsiung, Taiwan, and his mother from Shanghai, China.
