Manila, June 26 (CNA) The varsity baseball team of New Taipei's Ku Pao Home Economics & Commercial High School has clinched a berth in the U.S. Pony Baseball Palomino Division (U19) World Series after posting a 4-0 record at the Asia-Pacific regional qualifier in the Philippines.
Ku Pao sealed first place in Manila on Thursday with a dominant 14-0 win over a team from Tarlac, completing the tournament without allowing a single run.
Earlier in the week, Ku Pao shut out a team from Maitum 21-0 on Monday, defeated the Tarlac team 12-0 on Tuesday, and beat Maitum again 19-0 in a rematch on Wednesday.
Both of its opponents were teams from the host country. No other teams participated in the tournament.
With the win, Ku Pao will travel to Texas in late July to face teams from around the world.
Team manager Yang Hsiao-cheng (楊孝承) said he plans to schedule practice games against strong domestic high school and adult teams to help his players prepare for the competition.
An award ceremony will be held on Friday.
