Taipei, Oct. 2 (CNA) An assortment of military aircraft flew over the Presidential Office building in downtown Taipei early Thursday as part of a rehearsal organized by Taiwan's military ahead of the National Day of the Republic of China (Taiwan) flyby performance on Oct. 10.
Thursday's rehearsal, held from 6:20 a.m. to 7:20 a.m., began with an Air Force Mirage 2000-5 fighter flying over the Presidential Office building, followed 20 minutes later by a UH-60M Black Hawk helicopter.
The two aircrafts' mission was to observe the weather conditions and determine whether they were suitable for the upcoming flyover.
After confirming favorable conditions, two military helicopters -- another Black Hawk and a CH-47SD -- conducted another flypast, followed by three Brave Eagle advanced trainer jets releasing plumes of colored smoke.
To ensure smooth communications between all participating aircraft, the Air Force also dispatched an E-2K airborne early warning (AEW) aircraft.
Another full rehearsal is scheduled for Oct. 8 in preparation for National Day celebrations on Oct. 10.
