Taipei, July 10 (CNA) Schools and offices across Taiwan's main island will close Saturday due to Typhoon Bavi, with Taitung County being the only exception, while Kinmen County will be the only outlying island to remain open, according to local governments.

Taitung County government announced that offices and schools will remain open on Saturday, except in Lanyu (Orchid Island) Township and Ludao (Green Island) Township, where work and classes will be suspended.

Elsewhere, all local governments have decided to suspend work and classes on Saturday.

Kinmen County will be the only outlying island to keep offices and schools open.

School and work closure information is valid as of 9 p.m. Friday. For the latest updates, visit the website of the Directorate-General of Personnel Administration (DGPA).

The Central Weather Administration (CWA) said Friday that Typhoon Bavi is expected to have the most severe impact on Taiwan from Friday night through Saturday, with the storm's rainbands likely to affect areas stretching from New Taipei's northeastern coast to Yilan and Hualien counties early Saturday.
