Airport MRT to run 5 a.m. express train from Feb. 12-22 for LNY

Taoyuan, Feb. 7 (CNA) The Taoyuan Airport MRT will run a 5 a.m. express train service from Feb. 12 to Feb. 22 to cope with increased outbound travel during the Lunar New Year holiday, the operator said Saturday.

The service will depart Taipei Main Station at 5 a.m. and reach Terminal 2 of Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport in about 41 minutes, Taoyuan Metro Corp. said in a news release.

The company said the Airport MRT's earliest regular service previously began at 6 a.m. Extra 5 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. services were added during last year's Lunar New Year, with the 5:30 a.m. train later incorporated into regular operations.

This year's 5 a.m. express train will stop only at A3 New Taipei Industrial Park, A8 Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, and A12 Airport Terminal 1, before arriving at A13 Airport Terminal 2 at 5:41 a.m.

To support the service, A1 Taipei Main Station and A3 New Taipei Industrial Park Station will open at 4:30 a.m., while in-town check-in services at A1 will also start at 4:30 a.m. Stations at A8, A12 and A13 will open at 5 a.m.
