
Taipei, Nov. 26 (CNA) Taiwan on Saturday reported 13,269 new COVID-19 infections, all but 51 of which were locally transmitted, and 29 deaths from the disease, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).
The deceased ranged in age from their 50s to their 90s, and all but one had underlying health issues, while 15 of them were unvaccinated against COVID-19, the CECC said.
Also on Saturday, the CECC reported 119 new COVID-19 cases classified as moderate and 29 as severe.
The 13,269 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday represented a 20-percent drop from a week earlier, according to the CECC.
Regional breakdown
Regionally, New Taipei had the highest number of new infections, with 2,186, followed by Taichung with 1,758, and Kaohsiung with 1,674.
Taoyuan reported 1,333 cases, Tainan 1,258, Taipei 1,126, Changhua County 707, Pingtung County 439, Hsinchu City 418, Hsinchu County 409, Miaoli County 333, Yunlin County 285, Nantou County 227, and Yilan County 195.
Chiayi County had 194 cases, Keelung 183, Hualien County 179, Chiayi City 156, Taitung County 90, Kinmen County 35, Penghu County 28 and the Matsu Islands five.
To date, Taiwan has recorded 8,254,423 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began in early 2020, including 37,503 classified as imported.
With the 29 deaths reported Saturday, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 fatalities in the country rose to 14,210.
