Taipei, Oct. 4 (CNA) Chunghwa Precision Test Tech. Co., a Taiwan-based integrated circuit testing equipment supplier, said Friday that it will recruit 1,000 newcomers for its new research and development headquarters to promote future growth.

At a ceremony officially opening the new headquarters, Chunghwa Precision Chairman Huang Hsiu-gu (黃水谷) said his company is inviting interested people to join its R&D headquarters, expecting the number of new employees to top 1,000 in the future.

Chunghwa Precision, a subsidiary of telecom services provider Chunghwa Telecom Co. after a 2005 spinoff, currently has a workforce of about 900 that produces a wide range of IC testing equipment such as probe printed circuit boards (PCB), probe heads, load board PCBs and vertical probe cards (VPC) for customers worldwide.

Before the spinoff, the company served as a high speed PCB development team under Chunghwa Telecom Laboratories.

Now, the Taoyuan-based manufacturer operates service offices in the Hsinchu Science Park in northern Taiwan, where major semiconductor companies are located, Kaohsiung in southern Taiwan, Santa Clara in California, Tokyo, and Shanghai.

Huang said the new R&D headquarters will focus on development of precision machinery, machinery processing and VPCs as the company moves toward smart production.

As part of its recruiting efforts, Chunghwa Precision will also look for talent in 5G technology and artificial intelligence of things (AIoT) technologies, Huang said.

But he did not say how long the company would need to hire 1,000 newcomers for its 60,000-square meter R&D headquarters, which is located in Pingzhen District in Taoyuan and has been built with a NT$2.7 billion (US$87.10 million) investment.

Huang said the investment is expected to pay off when efforts to develop VPCs start contributing to its sales starting from the third quarter of next year.

In the third quarter, Chunghwa Precision posted a new quarterly high for consolidated sales at NT$1.102 billion, up 64.4 percent from a year earlier after its sales for September soared 44.86 percent year-on-year to NT$392 billion.

Analysts said Chunghwa Precision benefited from an increase in orders from IC makers for their 7 nanometer process production, including Chinese IC designer HiSilicon Technologies Co., a subsidiary of Huawei Technologies Inc.

Shares of Chuanghwa Precision rose 2.08 percent to close at NT$835.00 on the over-the-counter market on Friday.
