Taipei, July 19 (CNA) Hung Hsiu-chu (洪秀柱) was officially nominated by the ruling Kuomintang (KMT) as its presidential nominee to a standing ovation at the party's congress on Sunday.
KMT Chairman Eric Chu (朱立倫), President Ma Ying-jeou (馬英九) and Legislative Speaker Wang Jin-pyng (王金平) held their hands together at the meeting to try to create an atmosphere of unity in a party that has suffered divisions over Hung's candidacy.
