Taipei, Dec. 5 (CNA) Taiwan High Speed Rail Corp (THSRC) said Monday that a person who purchased a ticket at a 7-Eleven outlet on Sunday has become the bullet train's 400 millionth passenger since it began operations in 2007.

The passenger purchased the ticket at 11:18 p.m. at a 7-Eleven outlet in Kaohsiung, and will be awarded a THSRC holiday for a family of four that includes a stay at a hotel at a scenic spot of their choice, the company said.

The passengers right before and after the 400 millionth passenger will get a THSRC holiday for two.

Another nine passengers that purchased tickets at each 100,000 passenger interval leading up to 400 million (i.e. the 399.1 millionth, 399.2 millionth, etc.) will win a free ride in the high speed rail's business class car.

The high-speed rail company said it was presenting the awards to express its appreciation for the support of its customers.

It said it has gotten in touch with three of the winners, and it urged the other nine winners to check their ticket numbers to claim their prizes.

The winning ticket numbers are posted on the company's official website.
