Taipei, Dec. 26 (CNA) CyberMart, a retail business division of Taiwan's Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., will officially launch the company's first online shopping platform on Dec. 27 in Taiwan, a company source said Wednesday.
The shopping platform, called WOWCyber, initially will promote mainly Hon Hai's 60-inch television sets, Sharp's high-end smartphones and phones made by Foxconn.
The first 500 Hon Hai TVs offered online in presales Dec. 25 were sold out within 2.5 hours. The TVs, called RadioShack and made with Sharp's 10th generation panels, were available only to companies in the presales.
The company source said WOWCyber will offer another 500 units Thursday in presales that will again be open only to companies.
As for Sharp's high-end smartphones, the source said that the promotion will include the Full HD Aquos Phone SH930W, unveiled by the Japanese firm on Dec. 11. The 5-inch phone boasts Sharp's most advanced Aquos screen.
However, WOWCyber does not have any plans yet to sell Sharp's high-end smartphones that use the latest indium gallium zinc oxide panels, the source said.
The online store will also sell the Musn line of phones, manufactured by Foxconn.
Hon Hai estimates that shipments of its 60-inch televisions, launched Nov. 11, could exceed 10,000 units in January 2013 alone, according to the source.
The total number between the launch date and January next year could amount to more than 20,000 units, excluding the RadioShack models, the source said.
