Taipei, Jan. 20 (CNA) Taiwanese actor Nicky Wu (吳奇隆) announced his marriage to Chinese actress Liu Shishi (劉詩詩) on Tuesday over a year after the couple went public with their relationship.

On his Sina Weibo microblog on Tuesday, the 44-year-old Wu, who has focused on building his career in China in recent years, posted their marriage certificate and rings with the caption "cherish happiness."

Wu and Liu, 27, met on the set of the Chinese TV series "Scarlet Heart" (步步驚心) in 2011.

Wu shot to fame in the 1980s in Taiwan as a member of the Little Tigers boy band. After the trio disbanded in 1995, Wu continued his singing career and also moved into acting roles in film and television.

Since 2000 he has focused his career in China, starring in films and TV series including the 2006 film "A Battle of Wits" (墨攻), 2011's "Scarlet Heart," and "The Bride with White Hair" (新白髮魔女傳) in 2012.

Liu gained famed after her starring role in "Scarlet Heart."
