Taipei, June 24 (CNA) Taiwan has not imported a batch of Nissin Foods instant noodles recently recalled in Japan over concerns that it may contain plastic fragments, the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) said Wednesday.
The Nissin Foods Group, a major Japanese instant noodle manufacturer, announced last week a recall of its Nissin Sauce Yakisoba Cup with Chicken Soup (日清ソース焼きそばカップ チキンスープ付き), a product sold under the company's refrigerated food brand.
The affected products bear the JAN code 4902105255797 and have an expiration date of Sept. 10, according to a public notice issued Monday. The notice said 287,376 cups would be recalled.
The recall was issued after foreign material, identified as synthetic resin fragments, was found in the product, the TFDA said.
TFDA specialist Liao Tzu-ting (廖姿婷) told CNA that a review of the agency's Import Food Information System found no record of the affected product being imported into Taiwan over the past three years.
The agency advised travelers to Japan not to purchase or consume the affected product.
