Taipei, Jan. 7 (CNA) A police officer in Taipei accused of sexually abusing his underage daughter was indicted on multiple charges Tuesday.

In a statement, the Shilin District Prosecutors Office said that the police officer, surnamed Cheng (鄭), was indicted on 348 counts for having sex with his daughter over the 2010-2017 period.

Cheng posted bail of NT$100,000 (US$3,054) in May last year after his daughter reported it to the Taipei City Police Department a month earlier. He was subsequently suspended from duty by the National Police Agency.

The department said later Tuesday that Cheng's suspension will be re-evaluated based on the indictment and that he could be dismissed from office for life.
