The spike in locally transmitted COVID-19 cases since mid-May -- more than 2,500 as of Saturday -- led President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) and Health Minister Chen Shih-chung (陳時中) Friday to call on the public to stay at home this weekend in an effort to slow the spread of the disease.
