Weather to remain cool, with scattered showers in eastern Taiwan
Taipei, Nov. 19 (CNA) Due to the effect of northeasterly winds, the weather in northern Taiwan will remain cool throughout the day, with scattered showers expected in the eastern part of the country, according to the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) on Tuesday.
Daytime temperatures will range from 20-23 degrees Celsius for the north, while sunny to cloudy weather is forecast in central and southern Taiwan with the mercury expected to hover around 26-29 degrees, the bureau said.
At night, however, the temperature could drop to as low as 16 degrees in central and northern Taiwan, it added.
In addition, as northeasterly winds intensify on Tuesday, strong winds are expected across areas north of Tainan, including Green Island and Orchid Island.
Big waves are likely in coastal areas around Taiwan, including the Hengchun Peninsula in the south and on the outlying islands of Penghu and Kinmen, the CWB said, urging people engaged in outdoor activities to be vigilant.
