Taipei, Nov. 27 (CNA) Taiwan is likely to see generally mild weather across the island Saturday as voters head to the polls to select new mayors and local representatives, the Central Weather Bureau said Thursday.

Cloudy to sunny skies are expected in most parts of the country through Sunday, while sporadic showers are likely in eastern Taiwan, forecasters said.

Daytime temperatures might hover between 20 and 29 degrees Celsius in areas of western Taiwan during the period, the bureau said, cautioning anyone heading to their hometowns to vote to watch out for foggy weather in the early morning.

Temperatures could drop significantly starting Monday due to increasing seasonal winds, with lows in northern Taiwan dipping down to 15 degrees, the bureau said.

The area could become even cooler and wetter after Tuesday, with the daytime mercury hovering between 14 and 17 degrees, it said.
