Taipei, Oct. 9 (CNA) Taiwanese artistic roller skater Chen Yi-fan (陳毅帆) won gold in the men's artistic skating event at the World Skate Games (WSG) 2026 in Asunción, Paraguay, on Thursday (local time).

Chen took the title after winning both the short and long programs, with scores of 73.51 points and 183.28 points, respectively.

Taiwan also sent other roller skaters and skateboarders to this year's WSG, the fifth edition of the event.

In addition to Chen's gold, Taiwan has won six golds, all in inline freestyle events, along with six silver medals and two bronze medals so far.

Dubbed Taiwan's "prince of artistic roller skating," the 28-year-old Chen has regularly represented the country in international competitions, including several editions of the WSG.

He was seen as one of Taiwan's top medal hopes at the Hangzhou Asian Games in 2023, but organizers canceled his event because too few athletes had entered.

The 2026 WSG is being held in Asunción from Oct. 2 to 18, featuring 40 disciplines across 12 sports categories and esports.
