Taiwanese men's, women's doubles pairs reach BWF Arctic Open finals

Taipei, Oct. 11 (CNA) One Taiwanese pair each in men's and women's doubles advanced to the finals of the 2026 Clash of Clans Arctic Open, a Badminton World Federation (BWF) Super 500 tournament, in Vantaa, Finland, on Saturday (local time).

In the men's doubles semifinals, Lai Po-yu (賴柏佑) and Tsai Fu-cheng (蔡富丞) defeated French duo Julien Maio and William Villeger 21-15, 19-21, 21-13.

Lai and Tsai held a narrow lead in the opening game before pulling away from 15-14, winning six of the next seven points to take the game 21-15.

After committing several unforced errors in the second game, the Taiwanese pair lost 19-21. They then stepped up their attack in the deciding game after a closely contested start, pulling away from 9-9 to win 21-13.

Lai and Tsai will face Malaysian pair Aaron Tai (戴偉欽) and Yap Roy King (葉睿慶) in Sunday's final.

In the women's doubles, Hsu Yin-hui (許尹鏸) and Lin Jhih-yun (林芝昀) recovered from losing the opening game 17-21 to Chinese pair Bao Lijing (鮑驪婧) and Cao Zihan (曹梓涵), winning the next two games 21-14, 21-18 to secure their place in the final.

Hsu and Lin will face Chinese pair Chen Fan Shutian (陳樊淑湉) and Luo Xumin (羅徐敏) on Sunday. It will be their first final at a BWF Super 500 tournament since they began partnering to compete together in mid-2023.
