Cabinet OKs draft amendments to bar ex-convicts from running in elections

The Executive Yuan approved on Thursday a batch of proposed draft amendments seeking to prohibit individuals convicted of major offences, such as organized and national security crimes, from running for public office in an attempt to cut alleged ties between gangsters and politicians in Taiwan.
