Civic groups call on CTiTV to drop charge against tycoon

Taipei, Sept. 7 (CNA) A coalition of civic groups urged Chung Tien Television (CTiTV) on Wednesday to retract a defamation lawsuit it lodged on Monday against Robert Tsao (曹興誠), founder of the Taiwan-based contract chipmaker United Microelectronics Corp. (UMC), after he called the TV station a "bandit station" at a news conference on Sept. 1.
