Taipei, Oct. 9 (CNA) Vietnamese airline VietJet said Tuesday it will launch a promotional campaign Oct. 10-12, offering 70,000 tickets at discounted rates or free of cost for flights from Taiwan and other countries in the region to Vietnam.
For the Taiwan-Vietnam flights, a random number of tickets will be offered online each day between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., some of them free and some at steeply reduced prices, the budget carrier said, urging travelers to try their luck on its website.
However, passengers will be required to pay the normal flight tax and online booking service fee, even if they obtain a free ticket, the airline said.
Tickets procured during the promotional period will be valid for use between Nov. 1, 2018 and June 30, 2019, except for those on the Taichung-Hanoi route, which must be used by March 30, 2019, VietJet said.
Other destinations included in the special promotion are Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar and Cambodia, the carrier said.
The Vietnamese airline currently operates 57 round-trip flights per week on seven routes between Taiwan and Vietnam, namely from Taipei, Taichung, Kaohsiung to Hanoi, and from Taipei, Taichung, Tainan and Kaohsiung to Ho Chi Minh City.
Earlier this month, its subsidiary Thai Vietjet said it will launch a Taichung-Bangkok flight on Nov. 3 to coincide with the opening of the Taichung World Flora Exposition next month.
