Taiwan not trade competitor to U.S.: senior trade official

With Taiwan being regarded as one of the sources of the huge U.S. trade deficit, a senior official at the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT) said Friday that Taiwan and the U.S. are not competitors, because over 80 percent of Taiwan's exports to the U.S. are intermediate goods.
