Taipei, April 3 (CNA) Scattered showers and thunderstorms are forecast for northern and northeastern Taiwan before noon Friday, with mostly cloudy skies expected elsewhere, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA).
Isolated thundershowers, however, could still occur in northern Taiwan and other mountainous areas in the afternoon, the CWA said.
Independent meteorologist Wu Der-rong (吳德榮) said the wet weather is expected to ease later Friday, with occasional sunshine emerging as temperatures rise to above 30 degrees Celsius across the island.
Based on the latest forecasting models, Wu said a weather front will move in on Saturday, bringing scattered showers or thunderstorms with cooler temperatures for northern Taiwan.
On Sunday, the weather front is expected to weaken, though scattered brief showers or thunderstorms may still occur in Taiwan's western half before gradually easing later in the day.
The wet weather is forecast to persist into Monday, bringing brief isolated showers in the north, but other areas could see sunny to cloudy skies, Wu said.
Another weather front is expected to move in on Taiwan on Tuesday and bring scattered showers or thunderstorms across the island before weakening again the next day, according to Wu.
Stable and warm weather is forecast to return nationwide between Thursday and April 11, Wu said.
