Taipei, July 10 (CNA) Taiwan's girls' volleyball team rallied to defeat Türkiye 3-1 in the final of the 2026 ISF World School Volleyball Championship on Thursday, securing the country's first title at the tournament since Taiwan competed at the tournament under a national team format.

After dropping the opening set 22-25, Taiwan responded by winning the next three sets 25-19, 25-19 and 25-23 to complete the comeback in Shangluo, China.

Middle blocker Wu Tzu-hua (吳紫華) and outside hitter Xu Zhen-xuan (許甄軒), both members of Taiwan's squad for the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, helped lead the team throughout the tournament.

Taiwan advanced to the knockout stage without dropping a set after finishing first in its group. The team then defeated the United States and Slovakia before overcoming Türkiye in the championship match.

The girls' tournament was held from July 3-9 and featured 35 teams from 25 countries and regions divided into eight groups.

The victory marked Taiwan's first ISF World School Volleyball Championship title since adopting a national team format.

Previously, Kaohsiung's Chung-Shan Industrial & Commercial School won the girls' school team title in 2004 and 2008.
