Gumi, South Korea, May 31 (CNA) Taiwanese athletes won one silver and four bronze medals at the 2025 Asian Athletics Championships in South Korea on Saturday.
Taiwan ranked 14th overall by medal count.
Lin Yu-tang (林昱堂) took silver in the men's jump, while Chiang Ching-yuan (江靜緣), Yu Ya-chien (余雅倩), Lin Chung-wei (林仲威), and Chen Cai-juan (陳彩娟) each earned bronze in the shot put, hammer throw, 400-meter hurdles and heptathlon, respectively.
Wang Ching-cheng (王景成), general secretary of the Chinese Taipei Athletics Association, praised the Taiwanese athletes for their efforts.
Wang said that since the medal winners are still young, Taiwan has a promising future in athletics.
He added that although Lin did not win a gold medal, he was only beaten by 2 centimeters at the very last moment. Moreover, the total number of medals Taiwan won exceeded that of the previous edition, showing clear improvement.
The Asian Athletics Championships, a biennial event organized by the Asian Athletics Association, took place from May 27 to 31 in Gumi, South Korea.
