Taipei, Dec. 3 (CNA) Taiwan defeated Korea 4-0 in the opening game of the Asian Baseball Championship Sunday in front of a crowd of over 16,000 fans at the newly opened Taipei Dome.

The team was led by a dominant performance by starting pitcher Hsu Ruo-hsi (徐若熙), who recorded ten strikeouts and allowed only two hits in seven scoreless innings on the mound.

From there, 18-year-old Sun I-lei (孫易磊) came on in relief to close out the final two innings, hanging onto a four-run lead, which the team jumped out to after scoring three runs in the third inning and another in the fourth.
