Taipei, Aug. 2 (CNA) Taiwan scored 15 runs in four innings against Italy in its final game in the Opening Round of the WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup in Tainan on Tuesday evening.

The 15-0 victory lifted Taiwan's record in the tournament played at Tainan's Asia-Pacific International Baseball Stadium to 4 wins and one defeat before it plays in the Super Round starting Thursday.

Competing under the name "Chinese Taipei," Taiwan was one of three teams in its group to qualify for the Super Round on Monday along with Mexico and Venezuela.

During the game on Tuesday, Taiwan wasted no time in putting itself on the scoreboard with Ou Tzu-chiao (歐子喬) singling to center field while Wu Sheng-zhi (吳聖智) opened the scoring in the bottom of the first.

After a scoreless second inning, Taiwan put up video game numbers sending nine players to the home plate and boosting its lead to 10-0 by the end of the third inning.

However, the hot batting streak did not stop there, Taiwan posted another five-run inning at the bottom of the fourth to run away with the game 15-0.
