Taipei, June 18 (CNA) Heavy afternoon rain in Taipei on Thursday caused widespread flooding across various parts of the city, while two construction workers were injured after being struck by lightning.
According to information released by the city's emergency response center, a total of 41 incidents had been reported as of 4 p.m., of which 37 involved flooding.
One example was a section of Tingzhou Road in Zhongzheng District, where floodwaters reached a depth of about 20 cm, the center said.
In a separate incident, two people were struck by lightning at a construction site on Section 2 of Nanchang Road in Zhongzheng District, the center said, noting that the injured individuals were taken to National Taiwan University Hospital for treatment.
Police and firefighters said both victims -- a 22-year-old man and a 53-year-old man -- were conscious when emergency responders arrived, with one suffering burns and swelling while the other showed no visible external injuries.
