Taipei, April 27 (CNA) Temperatures around Taiwan could hit 31 degrees Celsius on Sunday as northeasterly winds weaken, but another front will bring wet and cooler weather starting Monday, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) has forecast.
Daytime highs could reach 27-31 degrees Celsius around Taiwan on Sunday, with mountainous areas in the south likely to hit 33-34 degrees, the weather agency said.
Meanwhile, the CWA forecast sporadic showers for Keelung and Taiwan's north coast, Yilan in the northeast, and Hualien in the east on Sunday, while the rest of the country would see mostly cloudy to sunny skies, with potential brief showers in mountainous areas during the afternoon.
In the outlying counties, temperatures are forecast to hover around 22-27 degrees in Penghu, 18-26 degrees in Kinmen, and 17-23 degrees on the Matsu Islands, the CWA said.
It also warned of poor visibility in central and northern Taiwan between Sunday night and early Monday morning due to fog and low clouds that could affect traffic.

On Monday, another weather front will set in, as northeasterly winds strengthen again, bringing sporadic showers and thunderstorms to central and northern parts of the western half of Taiwan, the eastern half, and the Hengchun Peninsula in the south, the CWA said.
The weather agency also forecast that due to the effect of northeasterly winds, the weather will turn cool in northern and northeastern Taiwan on Monday and Tuesday, with the temperatures dropping by 3-5 degrees.
As northeasterly winds weaken on Wednesday, temperatures will rise again and cloudy to sunny skies are expected to prevail in most areas of Taiwan, with scattered showers likely in the eastern half, the Hengchun Peninsula and the mountainous areas in the western half during the afternoon.
From Thursday to Saturday, similar conditions will remain, according to the CWA forecast.
