Taipei, Jan. 21 (CNA) A slew of fun activities and offerings will be available at several recreational venues in Taipei to mark the upcoming Year of the Snake, the city's Department of Education said Tuesday.
During the nine-day Lunar New Year holiday, which starts on Jan. 25, the Taipei Zoo will offer limited-edition entrance tickets themed after the Year of the Snake, the department said in a news release.
At 11 a.m. from Jan. 29-31, visitors can take part in a well-wishing activity to be held near the zoo's main entrance with the first 500 participants receiving a red envelope, the department said.
While there, people are also encouraged to visit a special exhibition titled "Right Where Lives Belong" (適得其所) held at the zoo's Education Center.
Meanwhile, from Jan. 29 to Feb. 2, free admission to the Taipei Astronomical Museum will be offered to visitors born in the Year of the Snake, the department said.
At the museum a fun activity will be available to all visitors, with a chance to enter a prize draw after passing a quiz.
From Jan. 29 to Feb. 2, those born in the Year of the Snake will also get free admission to the Taipei Children's Amusement Park, the department said.
The press release also noted that the Taipei Zoo, Taipei Astronomical Museum and Taipei Children's Amusement Park will be closed to the public on Lunar New Year's Eve (Jan. 28).
The Taipei Public Library will be closed from Jan. 28 to Feb. 1, it added.
