Plant malfunction knocks out 1/3 of power supply, affecting millions

An equipment malfunction at Kaohsiung's Hsinta Power Plant early Thursday resulted in the sudden loss of around one-third of Taiwan's power supply, causing outages affecting over 5 million households and businesses, according to the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
