2015/07/09 23:12:33

Taipei, July 9 (CNA) Foreign minister David Lin on Wednesday decorated Belgium's outgoing representative in Taiwan, Caroline Vermeulen, with the Order of Brilliant Star with Grand Cordon, in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the promotion of relations between the two countries.

Vermeulen has been performing her diplomatic mission in Taiwan since August of 2011 and has spared no efforts to promote bilateral ties between the two nations over the past years, as well as the mutual visit of personnel.

Thanks to the efforts made by the outgoing Belgian diplomat, Taiwan and Belgium signed in March of 2013 a working holiday agreement, which allows young people to work in each other's country while on holiday there. That has contributed to the increase of youth exchange between the two nations, minister Lin said.
