Taipei, June 22 (CNA) Taiwanese actor Tseng Jing-hua (曾敬驊) won Best Lead Actor at the Global OTT Awards 2026 in Busan, South Korea, on Saturday for his performance in "Had I Not Seen the Sun" (如果我不曾見過太陽).
According to a statement released Monday by the Taiwan Creative Content Agency (TAICCA), Tseng defeated the other nominees in the category including Hyun Bin and Kim Seonho of South Korea, Ryoma Takeuchi of Japan and Song Weilong (宋威龍) of China.
Meanwhile, the Taiwanese fantasy series "Agent From Above" (乩身) won Best Visual Effects, highlighting Taiwan's strong showing at the annual streaming-content awards, the agency added.
"There's still so much potential in acting. Don't give up on art," Tseng was cited as saying after receiving the award from Taiwanese actress Vivian Sung (宋芸樺).
Four Taiwanese actors -- Sung, Tseng, Suri Lin (林廷憶) and Chiang Chi (江齊) -- were invited to attend the event in Busan, where they also served as presenters, TAICCA said.
Sung, who presented an award at the ceremony in 2024, returned this year as a member of the final judging panel. She said the experience exposed her to many sincere and moving productions and reaffirmed her belief that the most powerful stories are those that resonate with audiences through a deep understanding of human emotions.
Lin, who won Best Newcomer (Female) at the 2025 Global OTT Awards for "Born for the Spotlight" (影后), returned this year as a presenter and helped present the newcomer award.
Chiang, who earned a Best Newcomer (Female) nomination for "Had I Not Seen the Sun," joined Tseng in presenting the Best Visual Effects and Best Original Song awards. "Agent From Above" won Best Visual Effects, with visual effects supervisor Tomi Kuo (郭憲聰) accepting the award.
Taiwanese productions also received recognition beyond the acting categories. The series "City Founding Pioneer" (都市開基祖) was nominated for both Best Asian Contents and Best Writer.
Sue Wang (王時思), TAICCA chairperson and deputy culture minister, said the participation of Taiwanese actors reflected the strength and resilience of Taiwan's film and television industry.
"Seeing four actors represent Taiwan on the Global OTT Awards stage reflects the strength and professionalism of Taiwan's film and television industry," Wang was cited as saying.
Through targeted international promotion and deeper integration of resources, Taiwan hopes to bring more homegrown talent onto the global stage, she added.
