Taipei, Nov. 18 (CNA) Chinese actor Xu Zheng (徐崢) won the biggest acting acclaim at the 55th Golden Horse Awards on Saturday, taking home the best leading actor award for his role in the Chinese film "Dying to Survive" (我不是藥神).

"This is not the first time I'd won a film award, but somehow I'm especially nervous today," Xu said.

Nominated for the first time in the Golden Horse Awards, the Shanghai native said he felt honored to have been able to play the lead role in the film.

The actor gave a shout out to the film's director, Wen Muye (文牧野), saying he has total confidence and respect for Wen after learning that he was going act in the film.

"Dying to Survive" was Wen's feature film debut.

Meanwhile, Xu also went on to thank the film crew, and the entire production team for making this movie a reality.

In the film, he plays a man whose life changes as he makes a lot of money after becoming an exclusive sales agent for counterfeit drugs and later learns that he is in great danger.

Xu found fame with the comedy TV series Sunny Piggy (春光燦爛豬八戒) in 2000, co-starring his future wife Tao Hong. He gained further recognition after other comedy TV dramas Li Wei the Magistrate (李衛當官) in 2001.

Other nominees for best leading actor were Duan Yihong (段奕宏) for "The Looming Storm (暴雪將至)," Roy Chiu (邱澤) for "Dear EX (誰先愛上他的)," Deng Chao (鄧超) for "Shadow (影)," and Peng Yuchang (彭昱暢) for "An Elephant Sitting Still (大象席地而坐)."
