Taipei 101 stages 1st combined fireworks-and-drone show to celebrate National Day

The iconic Taipei 101 skyscraper lit up the sky of Xinyi District on Friday night with its first combined fireworks-and-drone show to mark the Republic of China’s (Taiwan’s official name) 114th National Day.\n\nThe 13-minute performance featured fireworks, 500 drones, lasers and building lighting, forming messages such as “Let’s go, Taiwan!” (臺灣加油) and visuals including the outline of Taiwan proper and a shovel -- a salute to the “Shovel Superheroes,” volunteers who traveled to Hualien County in eastern Taiwan to help with cleanup efforts after recent major flooding.
