ASIAN GAMES/Taiwan's swimmer Wang Kuan-hung bags men's 200m butterfly gold

Tokyo, Sept. 25 (CNA) Taiwanese swimmer Wang Kuan-hung (王冠閎) won the men's 200-meter butterfly gold medal at the Asian Games in Japan on Friday, leading a 10-men final in 1 minute, 55.05 seconds.

Xu Fang (徐放) of China took silver in 1:55.65, while Kim Minseop of South Korea won bronze in 1:55.94.

Wang, who finished eighth in the men's 100-meter butterfly earlier in the Games, showed his medal-winning form in his strongest event, advancing from the heats before securing the gold in the final held at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre.

The 24-year-old won silver in the same event at the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, ending a 25-year medal drought for Taiwan's male swimmers at the Asiad.

His latest victory marked his second medal won at the Asian Games, which is held every four years.
