Taipei, Dec. 3 (CNA) Taiwan's national teams proved their dominance on Sunday at the 2023 Taipei International Indoor Tug of War Invitation Tournament, clinching golds in both men's and women's categories.

The women's team, which won the World Indoor Tug of War Championships 2023 in Northern Ireland earlier this year, beat South Korea in the 540-kilogram final.

The men's team also upset Thailand to seize victory in the 600 kg final, said the Chinese Taipei Tug of War Association, the event organizer, which is also set to host the World Indoor Tug of War Championships in 2026.

There were 11 teams from seven countries competing in the invitation -- including Japan, the United States, Vietnam and Malaysia -- which is being held Dec. 1-5 in Taichung, central Taiwan.
