Jakarta, Aug. 28 (CNA) Team Taiwan acquired a bronze medal in the table tennis men's team competition at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games Tuesday, after losing to China 1-3 in the semifinals.

In the second match, Taiwan's Chen Chien-an (陳建安) was on court against Fan Zhengdong, the world's top-ranked player in the sport.

In the hard-fought battle, Chen was overpowered by his Chinese rival, despite reaching a tie of 8-8 in the first game, but ultimately losing the match 9-11, 8-11 and 10-12.

Taiwan managed to win the third match when Lin Yun-ju (林昀儒) knocked out China's Wang Chuqin with a score of 11-9, 14-12, 3-11 and 11-9.

Then in the fourth match that saw Chuang versus Fan, the Taiwanese player fought back hard, after losing the first game 4-11, to get a deuce at 10-10 in the second game, but still lost in the end at 10-12.

Chuang continued to lose to Fan in the third game 4-11 to end the match with a defeat for the Taiwanese team.
