Northern Taiwan to see showers Thursday as day-night temperature gap widens
Taipei, Oct. 14 (CNA) Northern Taiwan will see local showers on Thursday, with weather conditions over the following days expected to stabilize, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA).
However, a wider day-night temperature gap is expected to persist through Tuesday, the CWA added.
Although the northeasterly monsoon will weaken on Thursday, moisture levels are set to increase, bringing localized showers to Keelung's northern coast, mountainous areas of Greater Taipei, eastern Taiwan and the Hengchun Peninsula, according to the CWA forecast.
Yilan is expected to see the most significant rainfall on Thursday, CWA forecaster Wang Pin-hsiang (王品翔) said.
Temperatures in northern and northeastern Taiwan will be relatively low, with highs of 28-30 degrees Celsius, while highs in central and southern Taiwan will reach 32-33 degrees on Thursday, Wang said.
After Thursday, moisture levels will gradually decrease across Taiwan, with sunny to cloudy skies expected from Friday through Tuesday, he added.
Eastern Taiwan and the Hengchun Peninsula will see localized showers, while mountainous areas in central and southern Taiwan will experience sporadic showers.
From Friday, daytime highs could exceed 30 degrees across Taiwan, with temperatures in central and southern areas ranging from 33-35 degrees, Wang said.
However, the day-night temperature difference will be most pronounced in western Taiwan, with lows of 23-25 degrees, he added.
Owing to radiative cooling, some parts of Taiwan could see lows below 20 degrees Celsius, Wang said.
