Taipei, Jan. 23 (CNA) Sunny skies and warmer daytime temperatures are expected in Taiwan from Saturday through Monday as the current cold air mass gradually weakens, independent meteorologist Wu Der-rong (吳德榮) said Friday.
Wu said that while maximum temperatures across Taiwan are forecast to rise slightly on Friday, overall conditions will remain cool.
Forecast highs and lows for Friday range from 10 to 17 degrees Celsius in northern Taiwan, 8 to 23 degrees in central regions, 7 to 25 degrees in the south, and 10 to 24 degrees in the east, he said.
Over the weekend, temperatures are expected to continue rising as the cold air weakens further, bringing warmer daytime conditions, while mornings and nights remain chilly, Wu said.
He noted that stable and mostly clear skies are forecast for western Taiwan, while eastern Taiwan and eastern parts of the greater Taipei area may experience occasional localized rainfall.
Clear skies and warm weather are expected nationwide on Monday, though Wu cautioned that large day-night temperature swings are likely.
He added that another northeast monsoon system is forecast to arrive on Tuesday, bringing cooler temperatures along with increased cloud cover and rain to northern and eastern Taiwan.
