1 dead, 8 injured in Taipei knife attack linked to smoke grenade suspect
Taipei, Dec. 19 (CNA) A man who allegedly threw a smoke grenade and injured two individuals in MRT Taipei Main Station at around 5 p.m. Friday later stabbed seven other people, injuring three seriously, near MRT Zhongshan Station, local authorities said.
As a result of the grenade incident, one man in his 50s was rushed to hospital after suffering cardiac arrest, but despite efforts to resuscitate him was later pronounced dead.

The suspect then headed north and attacked people at Eslite Spectrum Nanxi near MRT Zhongshan Station, injuring seven, Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an (蔣萬安) said Friday evening.
Chiang told reporters that the suspect was a Taiwanese man born in 1998 who is believed to have later jumped to his death, without providing more details.
