
Kaohsiung, Aug. 18 (CNA) Three people died in a fire that broke out early Monday on the first two floors of a 10-story building in Kaohsiung's Linyuan District, the city fire department said.
The blaze, reported at 4:14 a.m., was brought under control within 30 minutes after 16 fire trucks and 36 firefighters were dispatched, according to the fire department.
Police said the victims were a 38-year-old man surnamed Wang (王), the son of an apartment owner in the building, and two Vietnamese nationals, a man and a woman, whose identities have yet to be confirmed.
Arson has been provisionally ruled out, while the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
