
Taipei, July 2 (CNA) A worker who fell unconscious at a site in Taoyuan operated by the state-run oil refiner, CPC Corp., Taiwan, was pronounced dead on Wednesday, according to the city's fire department.
The 34-year-old worker, identified by his surname Lee (李), lost consciousness while performing diving work at the energy company's Guantang LNG Terminal in Guanyin District, the Taoyuan Fire Department said.
After receiving an emergency call at around 5:41 p.m., first responders arrived on the scene to find Lee out of the water being given cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) by a member of the public, the department said.
Ambulance personnel then continued CPR, used an automated external defibrillator on Lee, and took him to a hospital, where efforts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful, they said.
The exact cause of the incident remains under investigation, according to the fire department.
