Taoyuan, Feb. 1 (CNA) Taoyuan Airport MRT will continue operating early express train services from Taipei Main Station to the airport, on a three-month trial basis from Monday, Taoyuan Metro Corp. announced on Saturday.
The earliest train will depart from Taipei Main Station at 5:30 a.m. daily during the trial run to accommodate demand for early morning rail services to Taiwan's biggest international airport, the company said.
During the three-month trial period, Taipei Main Station will open at 5:00 a.m., while Airport Terminal 1 and Airport Terminal 2 stations will open at 5:30 a.m., according to the metro company.
The trial initiative is an extension of additional services scheduled around Lunar New Year to accommodate increased passenger demand during the holiday period.
Specifically, Taoyuan Airport MRT added two early express trains from Taipei Main Station to the airport leaving at 5 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. daily from Jan. 24 to Sunday, the company said.
An average of 110 passengers per day took advantage of these early trains, according to the metro company's data as of Friday.
Taoyuan Metro Corp. said it adjusted its plan and decided to extend the early service program for three months from Monday based on its latest passenger data.
