Taipei, Jan. 22 (CNA) Taoyuan International Airport has advised travelers to arrive at least three hours before their flight during the Lunar New Year holiday period because the airport is expected to be very busy.

The airport said in a statement released Wednesday that from Jan. 24 to Feb. 3, an average of 145,000 travelers are expected to pass through the airport each day.

The peak dates for departing passengers are expected to be Jan. 24 and 25, while the peak for inbound travelers will be on the final weekend of the holiday on Feb. 1 and 2, the airport said.

Meanwhile, peak hours during the holiday period will be 7-9 a.m., 2-3 p.m. and 11 p.m.-12 a.m. for departing flights and 1-5 p.m. and 8-10 p.m. for arrivals, it added.

In addition to arriving three hours early, the airport also suggested travelers should check in for their flights online and familiarize themselves with security screening procedures beforehand.

Due to the high passenger volume, Taoyuan Airport MRT will add two extra-early express trains from Taipei Main Station to the airport leaving at 5 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. daily from Jan. 24 to Feb. 2, the airport said.
