Toufen City in Miaoli County recorded a temperature of 40.5 degrees Celsius on Wednesday afternoon, the highest ever across Taiwan this year, caused by the sediment effect brought by Typhoon Saola, said Taiwan's Central Weather Bureau (CWB).
