Taipei, May 21 (CNA) Taipei's Tri-Service General Hospital on Saturday established a mass testing center at Taipei Songshan Airport to provide testing, medical consultation, and prescription services daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

According to Tri-Service General Hospital's superintendent Wang Chih-hung (王智弘), the center has the capacity to service around 2,000 people daily for an estimated two weeks.

Wang said the center would be divided into three clinical timeslots with four testing stations available.

The center has three lanes tailored to three different demographics, Wang said, with one lane designated as a priority lane for children aged 12 and under and seniors 65 and above, one for those with appointments, and the third one for walk-ins.

Wang said that the center could accommodate up to 1,800 appointments plus 200 walk-ins every day and that the center was capable of providing polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests, medical consultations, and antiviral medication prescriptions on the spot.

Additionally, should on-site doctors deem hospital admission necessary, such people can be transferred immediately to the Tri-Service General Hospital.

The center was erected on the parking lot located at Terminal Two of the Taipei Songshan Airport.

During a site inspection visit with Health Minister Chen Shih-chung (陳時中) on the first day of the center's operation, Premier Su Tseng-chang (蘇貞昌) thanked the Central Epidemic Command Center for consolidating the resources of various public hospitals to erect the mass testing center in just 48 hours.
