Taiwan issues sea warning for Tropical Storm Bailu

Taipei, Aug. 23 (CNA) The Central Weather Bureau (CWB) on Friday issued a sea warning for Tropical Storm Bailu, which is projected to head toward Taiwan.

As of 8 a.m. Friday, Bailu was located at sea about 910 kilometers southeast of Taipei, moving at 24 kilometers per hour at a northwesterly direction, according to CWB data.

It was packing maximum sustained winds of 90 kph, with gusts of up to 119 kph, the data showed.

The storm is expected to affect waters southeast of Taiwan, the Bashi Channel, and the southern part of the Taiwan Strait within 24 hours, the bureau said, urging ships operating in these areas to be vigilant.

A land warning is likely to be issued Friday afternoon, according to the bureau.
