Taipei, May 19 (CNA) A weather front is expected to bring rain to Taiwan from Monday, the Central Weather Bureau (CWB) said Sunday.

The front will result in showers or thunderstorms in western Taiwan, the CWB forecast. It also warned of isolated downpours or heavy rain, especially in northern Taiwan.

A flood and disaster response center will be activated at 7:30 a.m. Monday to oversee the situation, the Water Resource Agency (WRA) under the Ministry of Economic Affairs said.

The WRA encouraged the public to utilize its flood alert app and its disaster prevention website ( to receive real-time information on disaster situations.

Meanwhile, northeasterly winds are expected to strengthen as the weather front moves away Tuesday, bringing cooler weather, the CWB said. However, rain might still hit central, southern and eastern Taiwan.

According to the CWB, temperatures will start to get warmer when the northeasterly winds begin to weaken Wednesday.
